🦉 Are owls as wise as their reputation suggests and why is it that they hoot and screech as much as they do at this time of year?
Join us for an evening stroll at Bore Place with bird expert Tom Forward, as we follow the sounds of the night in search of our resident owls. With their hoots echoing through the trees, we'll learn more about these fascinating nocturnal hunters and their habitats. Using thermal imaging equipment, we'll also keep an eye out for other wildlife such as hares and deer that become more active by night. This is a great opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of nature after sunset!
Of course we hope to hear and see some owls (and will do our best!), but please bear in mind that we can't control the wildlife and occasionally we don't find anything.
Important info
- This walk covers uneven terrain and long grass over a distance of approx. 2.5km. We recommend wearing sturdy footwear, such as walking boots or wellies, and dressing in warm clothing suitable for the weather.
- Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
- Suitable for age 8+ (however younger, interested children able to cover the walking distance are welcome).
