We all know yoghurt as a delicious and healthy probiotic food, but did you know you can transform it into many other delightful foods? During this workshop, you'll learn to turn yoghurt into two kinds of cheeses.
You will learn to make labneh, a cream cheese which originated from the Levant and paneer, a subcontinental Asian cooking cheese. Labaneh has a thick, spreadable texture and a delicious tanginess making it perfect for dipping and slathering on crackers. Paneer is a mild cheese which holds its shape when cooked, and absorbs spices really well so is a absolutely wonderful protein for veggie dishes, such as curries.
We are very pleased to welcome Rachna Jhala back for another workshop at Bore Place. For those who have attended her yoghurt or kefir making workshops, this is a fantastic next step in your dairy fermenting journey! The class size will be very small to enable lots of discussion, and time for questions. As part of the session you will get a pot of Happy Belly yoghurt and a sachet of Zaytoun za’tar to take home, so you're ready to put into action all that you have learned.
The workshop will end with a tasting session of Happy Belly fermented dairy products and the opportunity to discuss the cultural history of dairy fermentation. Rachna is a big proponent of the powerful support such foods provide in building immunity and general wellbeing in us and she will share this knowledge with you.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
